Abstract

The inclusion of social media in every day life has created a change in the way society runs. While it has rapidly altered the private sector, it is slowly altering the public sector as well. This paper will look at ways social media has changed government and explore areas that social media can be used to further improve efficiency in the public sector. Through engagement of citizens to utilization of releasing news to citizens first, social media can help the public feel closer to their representatives. This can result in an increase in public participation and understanding of the way our government works.

This seems like it could be a very interesting topic. Lots of City Governments, and Washington D.C., are using Social Media to communicate there messages. I look forward to seeing what this project yields.
